The Mandalorian: Five games to play while you wait for Season Two
There are plenty of Star Wars games that let you explore the wider universe and are perfect for while you wait for season two of The Mandalorian later this year.
Disney+, Disney’s own streaming subscription service, launched this past November, and while it was virtually guaranteed to be a big success leveraging its huge library of animated and live-action beloved movie and TV shows, its original programming has gotten a lot of praise as well. The Mandalorian, a show based in the Star Wars universe, is easily the most talked about thing on the entire streaming service.
The Mandalorian has just recently wrapped up the first season and the next won’t be coming until Fall of this year. While that’s not unexpected, it is still a long time to wait with no new episodes.
However, one of the best ways to fill time while waiting for a new entry in a franchise or a new season of one of your favorite shows is to play video games that remind you of it and keep you hyped for what’s next. Here are five video games you can play that should totally keep you both busy and excited for season two of The Mandalorian whenever it comes to Disney+:
#5. Star Wars: Dark Forces
Though the series later evolved into being all about Jedi, in the first game in the Star Wars: Dark Forces, you are just a regular former Imperial soldier turned mercenary named Kyle Katarn. In a world where you might have to occasionally fight an evil space wizard who can choke you with a gesture or throw lightning from their hands, you just have your trusty blasters and the occasional explosive to get you through dangerous missions for the rebellion.
Like many games on this list and The Mandalorian show itself, what Star Wars: Dark Forces does so well (aside from being a pretty competent Doom clone) is help remind you that there’s more to Star Wars than epic lightsaber fights or battles between fleets of ships. There’s a lot of people working in the crevices and darker corners of the galaxy, risking their lives to defeat The Empire and they are often outmanned and under-powered yet still need to somehow carry out their mission.
Star Wars: Dark Forces arguably hasn’t aged super well in the 25 years since its initial release, but is still a well-told story set in the universe that isn’t about Jedi. It’s a fun throwback that’s still available for dirt cheap on PC.
