Top 5 Water type Pokemon experts in the Pokemon series
By Ivan Ornelas
Who are the top Water type experts of the Pokemon world? We’re going to break them down for you, based on their overall influence in the series.
This is a continuation of my Rock type expert article but reformatted: from here on out we will only cover the five best of each type, or less if there are not five. Let’s begin, today focusing on the five best Water type Pokemon experts based on their overall influence in the series.
5. Nessa
Nessa was an immediate fan favorite upon her reveal in the months leading up to the Sword and Shield launch. She had the confidence and intensity of Misty while also standing out in her own right. Having a Gigantamax Pokemon in Drednaw earns her bonus points too, making battling her in the second gym challenge of Galar a bit more interesting than in other regions.
4. Lana
Lana is another strong candidate who is a great example of what being a Water type specialist is about as well as representing Alola. She may be shy but she’s a responsible older sister and she knows her way around Brooklet Hill, the perfect setting for a Water Trial. Her sense of humor is dorky in a cute way (Remember that time Lana saw a Kyogre? Neither did she).
3. Siebold
Do you think Pokemon battles are worthy to be considered forms of art? If so, you’ll get along just fine with Siebold. If not, he might blow a fuse. But this passion is what makes Siebold stand out as the first Elite Four member to specialize in the Water type. Some classics like Gyarados and Starmie complement some Kalos flavor with Clawitzer and Barbaracle.
2. Wallace
What’s cooler than being a Water type Elite Four member? Try being Champion. Though Wallace was a Gym Leader in Ruby and Sapphire, he rose through the ranks to be the final obstacle in Emerald. His team of Wailord, Ludicolo, Tentacruel, Whiscash, Gyarados, and Milotic is trickier than meets the eye. In the anime, he’s a great Contest Coordinator too.
1. Misty
From the moment Ash stole and Pikachu zapped her bike in the anime, Misty had plenty of fans. She inspired many Pokemon fans, of any gender, to find their favorite type and be unapologetically confident in battle. Starmie, Gyarados, Corsola, Politoed, Togetic, and the always lovable Psyduck are just a few of her incredible Pokemon we’ve come to know and love.
