Madden 20 Ultimate Team’s NFL Top 100 Program has added four legendary quarterbacks: Joe Montana, John Elway, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

Madden 20 Ultimate Team’s NFL Top 100 Program, a celebration of the NFL’s centennial anniversary, reached its conclusion this week with the release of four legendary quarterbacks. Special versions of Joe Montana, John Elway, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning can now be acquired in MUT.

As per usual, each player has three different versions: Power Up, Base Version (85 OVR), and Centennial Version (95 OVR). The Centennial version can be obtained by putting together a set of any 25 Week 5 NFL 100 base players.

It’s no surprise to see these four players representing Madden’s NFL Top 100 Program for quarterbacks. Joe Montana is widely considered the greatest quarterback to have ever played the game and Tom Brady is the all-time winningest quarterback in the Super Bowl with six championship rings. Manning may be the best pure passer of all four of them and John Elway, a nine-time Pro Bowler, was the NFL’s all-time winningest starting quarterback when he retired after winning back-to-back titles in Super Bowls XXXII and XXXIII.

Brady and Manning have the second and third most passing yards in NFL history at 74,350 and 71,940, respectively. They are also both tied for second in passing touchdowns with 539, just behind Drew Brees’ 544.

All four of these quarterbacks deserve their spot atop the NFL 100 list, but there are definitely some glaring omissions. Most notably, Dan Marino and Brett Favre have been omitted. Favre is fourth (71,838) and Marino is fifth (61,361) in all-time passing yards. They are also fourth and fifth in passing touchdowns; Favre has 508, while Marino has 420. One could make the argument that both Marino and Favre have been snubbed.

One could also argue for the inclusion of Roger Staubac, Johnny Unitas and even Drew Brees to be included as well. But alas, there just isn’t enough space to celebrate them all in Madden Ultimate Team, so the four we have now are Montana, Elway, Brady and Manning.

Montana is a “Field General” with the Fearless 100 ability, meaning his passing accuracy is never impacting by pass-rush pressure. Brady is also a “Field General” with the Pro Reads 100, highlighting the first open receiver. Manning is a “Field General” as well with Omaha 100, giving him full vision of the secondary’s defensive coverage before the snap. Lastly, Elway, complete with mullet and all, is a “Strong Arm” quarterback with the Bazooka 100 ability, giving him a maximum throw distance of up to 80 yards.

There’s not a whole lot of variety with three of the four being Field Generals; however, it’s widely agreed upon that Manning’s Omaha 100 is the best X-Factor of the group. Which NFL 100 quarterback will you be rolling with in Ultimate Team?
