Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Activision /

The Call of Duty franchise made the biggest splash of this generation with Modern Warfare. Infinity Ward returns to its roots with the Modern Warfare franchise. They also bring back the fan-favorite character, Captain Price, back. Fans of the older series will find a lot of enjoyment with the rebooted installment. The ending of Modern Warfare gives players a lot of hope for the next installment.

Modern Warfare released with a lot of positivity and sold better than any other CoD game in this generation. Major criticism hit around the shooter’s multiplayer. Poor map design and spawn locations made multiplayer broken in some ways. However, Infinity Ward has done an excellent job of listening to players and makes changes accordingly. Furthermore, new maps are being added frequently.

Control

Remedy Entertainment returns with a new mind-bending action-adventure game named ControlControl released earlier in the fall but did not receive enough attention. The game received great scores from many different critics and is considered for game of the year. Control is in a similar vein as Remedy’s previous games: Quantum Break and Alan Wake.

Control revolves around the Federal Burea of Control, which is a secret agency within the government tasked with investigating strange phenomena around physics. Players are capable of picking up things with their mind and throwing them back at enemies, which makes gameplay exhilarating. The world of Control is also brilliantly created and will make you want to explore as much as possible.
