MLB The Show 19: How to unlock Signature Series Ichiro Suzuki
Ichiro Suzuki, one of the greatest hitters and fielders to ever play the game, is now available in MLB The Show 19 as a Signature Series. Here’s how to unlock him.
Ichiro Suzuki, one of the most beloved players in all of baseball, has finally received his Signature Series card in MLB The Show 19. A 10-time MLB All-Star (2001-2010), AL MVP (2001), two-time AL batting champion (2001, 2004) and 10-time Gold Glove award winner (2001-2010), Ichiro was one of the great players to ever play the game and is most definitely worthy of a Signature Series honor.
Signature Series Ichiro Suzuki was officially added to MLB The Show 19 today. Players are able to unlock him by completing a series of Tribute Moments. These challenges are actually also part of the currently ongoing 10th Inning Program, so you can continue to earn Stars to chase down Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and Mike Schmid while unlocking Ichiro at the same time.
There are 10-plus challenges for him, spanning some of the most memorable moments of his career. Most of the challenges revolve around hitting, which makes sense given his .300-plus career batting average and 4,367 career hits across Japan and the United States.
Two challenges involve hitting home runs, two multi-hit games that include getting an extra-base hit and one in which you need to get four hits. Another challenge involves stealing bases. Interestingly, none of the challenges involve defensive play, which is a bit odd considering his 10 Gold Glove awards and the fact he was known for his insanely strong arm and ability to throw out runners.
Completing these challenges will earn you 2,000 Stubs and 4,000 XP on top of the card. Signature Series Ichiro Suzuki boasts a 99 overall with 116 contact vs. righties and 125 contact vs. lefties. He’s also got 91 bunting, 90 speed and 99 stealing, making him an absolute terror on the base paths.
His defensive ratings also reflect his prowess in the outfield where he consistently made highlight reel-worthy plays. In line with that, he’s got 99 arm strength, 92 arm accuracy and 94 reactions. I dare someone to test his arm.
