MLB The Show 19 has spit out its final simulation of the postseason as the World Series is set. So who will take the crown? The Houston Astros or Washington Nationals?

After 162 games of baseball and a wild postseason, we’ve finally reached the World Series and we have MLB The Show 19 to help us predict a winner.

The Houston Astros sort of cruised their way to the promised land, defeating the Rays and Yankees to get there after winning the AL West title. The Yankees gave them a little bit of a scare, but Jose Altuve hit the biggest home run of his life, sending Houston to the Fall Classic in game-winning fashion. He did so off of Aroldis Chapman, who Cubs fans know all too well as the man who gave up the famous game-tying home run to Rajai Davis in the 2016 World Series despite playing a key role in Chicago’s success up to that point.

The Astros will make their second World Series appearance in three years and third appearance overall. They were swept by the White Sox in 2005 when they were still a National League team but obviously won it all in 2017, defeating the Dodgers after completely rebuilding their roster.

The current team is as loaded as ever, with Alex Bregman and the aforementioned Altuve leading the way on offense. Meanwhile, on the mound, you have the aging, but still, incredibly dangerous Justin Verlander while Gerrit Cole remains arguably one of the top three or four pitchers in all of baseball.

On the National League side, we see the Washington Nationals enjoying their first-ever trip to the World Series, despite losing Bryce Harper to free agency in the offseason. Washington has been an immensely consistent team since they became the Nationals in 2005.

However, they always fell short of reaching the big series. They’ve had good teams for a long time, but this is the deepest squad they’ve ever had.

Obviously they’re very good since they won the NL pennant, but some teams get a little lucky at the right times. The Nationals were definitely not “lucky”; they have one of the deeper lineups and they have one of the best pitching rotations in baseball, rivaling Houston’s.

Max Scherzer is arguably the best pitcher between the two teams heading into the World Series while a guy like Cole is up there with the best of them. So you can expect quite a pitching battle between these squads.

But in our MLB The Show simulation, who will prevail? Will pitching dominate the series or will the bats be launching baseballs all over the place? Let’s find out, shall we?
