Epic Games is celebrating Batman Day with a special crossover event in Fortnite featuring themed skins, weapons and even Gotham City.

Arguably the greatest superhero of all time, today we celebrate Batman’s 80th year. While the Caped Crusader has starred in his fair share of excellent video games, today he comes to one of the most popular: Fortnite.

Epic Games has teamed up with DC to unleash the Fortnite x Batman crossover event. Like other events of this nature, Fortnite has exclusive new Batman-themed cosmetics available for purchase and a series of special challenges that can unlock exclusive rewards.

The highlight of the event is undoubtedly the Batman Caped Crusader Pack, a bundle of cosmetics that can transform your character into the Dark Knight. The Batman Caped Crusader Pack includes two costume variations — the Batman Comic Book Outfit and The Dark Knight Movie Outfit — as well as a pickaxe and glider. Individual Batman-themed items are also available, including a Catwoman outfit.

If you’re not about spending money on cosmetics, you can unlock a few special rewards by completing limited-time challenges. The Welcome to Gotham City Challenge Bundle offers sprays, emotes and even the Catwing Glider, which looks incredibly awesome.

In terms of gameplay, two new Batman-themed weapons have been introduced. The Batman Grapnel Gun is similar to that of the Grappler, letting players shoot it at the environment and then launching them in an arc towards that point. At their highest, players will deploy the Bat Cape, which functions as a Glider, allowing them to glide far distances without fall damage.

The Explosive Batarang is a projectile that can be thrown towards enemies and explodes when in close proximity, dealing 50 damage to players and 200 damage to the environment. If thrown at the environment, it will stick where it lands and act as a proximity mine.

Lastly, the crossover event makes use of this season’s Rift Zones by transforming Tilted Town into Gotham City.

As far as Fortnite crossover events go, this one isn’t as big as the Avengers, which featured its own separate game mode. But it’s nice to see DC finally get some love in the biggest battle royale game. I’d love to see more DC heroes and even villains eventually join Batman in the future.

The Fortnite x Batman event runs from now until October 6.
