#1. Batman: Arkham City

An obvious choice but the right one. It might be argued whether this or Arkham Asylum deserves the title of best Batman game to date. If you ask me in the future, I might even change my position. But on this Batman Day, I feel like Arkham City gives fans of the Dark Knight their fill of everything they’d be looking for and then some in a game starring the Dark Knight.

That may actually be Arkham City’s biggest failing, that with so much in such a big setting, it might feel a tad bloated for some compared to how perfectly tight and contained Arkham Asylum is. But going bigger and all-out meant you got way more easter eggs, more classic enemies and a bigger finale, making this the biggest and best Batman game to date. It’s actually hard to imagine how developer Rocksteady would follow this up successfully, and I’d argue that they, in fact, haven’t. Arkham Knight was a disappointment on a lot of levels.

And all has been quiet on the Batman front since. We’ve heard lots of rumors of what the next game starring the Dark Knight might be, but haven’t seen or been told anything concrete. We don’t even have confirmation that a new game is actually happening, just a lot of rumors. Hopefully, we will return to the Arkham series sometime soon.

That is the list of the five best games starring the Caped Crusader in honor of Batman Day. Are there others you felt should have made the cut? Discuss them in the comments below!
