8 games worth trying if you enjoy Borderlands 3

The following games aren’t necessarily shooter-looters because they lack the traditional loot systems of Borderlands. As battle royale games, there is a “loot” aspect as you roam the environment in search of weapons, items and other upgrades, but it’s not the same. Still the great gunplay and relative loot systems could helps satisfy the itch.

Fortnite

Of all the battle royale games, Fortnite is the biggest of them all. Developed by Epic Games, this is a free-to-play game where up to 100 players fight to be the last person or squad standing.

It offers three different modes: solos, duos and squads. What sets Fortnite apart from the rest is its cartoonish approach tot he genre, which includes a  wide range of cleverly designed weapons and gadgets, an ever-changing environment and fun cosmetics like character skins and emotes. Another unique aspect to Fortnite is its “build” function, in which players can harvest materials and use them to build structures in combat.

While Fortnite is primarily known for its battle royale mode, it does have a PvE spinoff campaign called Save the World. Completely separate from the battle royale mode, Save the World offers its own progression system and set of unique cosmetics and characters to unlock along with a series of replayable co-op missions.

Apex Legends

Apex Legends is a free to play battle royale shooter developed by Respawn  Entertainment. With nearly 50 million gamers on the first month, this game is definitely worth trying.

Unlike its predecessors, like Fortnite and PUBG, Apex Legends offers a set of 8 characters to choose from, each having their own backstory and set of abilities. These abilities can turn the battle at any point of time.

There’s no traditional campaign or story missions. It’s a battle to death. 20 teams, each consisting of 3 members, drop into a map and scavenge for weapons and equipment’s in order to fight other players. As the time proceeds, the size of the ring gradually decreases, forcing players to fight for the survival until one squad remains. One of the special feature of this game is the ability to revive the team mates if they die during the battle.

Player Unknown’s Battleground (PUBG)

Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an online multiplayer battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporation. In the game, up to one hundred players parachute onto an island and scavenge for weapons and equipment to kill others while avoiding getting killed.

Same as the other BR games, after a limited time interval the size of accessible map decreases, directing surviving players into tighter areas to force encounters. With a lot of positive reviews and some technical flaws, PUBG presented a new type of gameplay which gamers of any skill level can play. This game offers the choice of four different maps, so hop in the plane and go to the unknown islands to test your survival skills.
