Madden 20: 5 biggest roster changes we’ll see in the Week 1 update
Kiko Alonso traded to New Orleans Saints
With the Dolphins clearly in rebuild mode, their veteran purge continued with trading linebacker Kiko Alonso to the New Orleans Saints for linebacker Vince Biegel.
Alonso has been a solid player for the Dolphins, starting all 46 games for Miami. He led the team in tackles in two of his three seasons. Last year he totaled 125 tackles and three interceptions. This move was more about the Dolphins getting younger and Alonso not necessarily fitting with coach Brian Flores’ new scheme, especially after Miami found linebacker Sam Eguavoen this offseason.
Kiko Alonso is rated only 73 overall in Madden 20, but he is five points higher than the Dolphins next best ROLB (Mike Hull, 67 OVR). Vince Biegel, at 26 years old, is rated 68 overall, so he won’t be of much help in Madden 20.
The Saints already have a pretty solid linebacking corp. so it’s unclear where Alonso will fit in, both in real life and in Madden. At ROLB, the Saints have 85 rated Demario Davis. MLB Alex Anzalone (74 OVR) and LOLB A.J. Klein (72 OVR) also seem like better starts in the game. Perhaps Alonso will serve as a nice backup should injury arise.
Between the departure of Tunsil, Stills and Alonso, there’s not much to be excited for as a Dolphins fan playing Madden 20. I guess they are a fun rebuild project in Connected Franchise though.
