New York Giants (77 OVR,  72 DEF, 75 OFF)

The New York Giants have some talent, but most of it resides on the defensive side of the ball – surprising considering they spent a first-round pick on Saquon Barkley and signed Golden Tate III.

As the second worst-rated team in Madden 20, this is another obvious choice to rebuild. Unlike the Dolphins, the Giants sort of addressed their QB situation in the draft by signing Duke’s Daniel Jones. But he has tons of question marks surrounding him and his 63 overall rating means there’s room for improvement if you also aren’t sold on him (though his salary situation might prove difficult). In any case, it’s looking like Eli Manning’s last season with the team and he’s just a 72 overall, so this is clearly a glaring need.

Also unlike the Dolphins, the Giants have some stars on offense. With Saquon Barkley (91 OVR) and Evan Engram (84 OVR), the running back and tight end positions are pretty much set. Golden Tate (85 OVR) may not be the flashiest No. 1 receiver, but he’s certainly talented. The point is the Giants have some stars on offense, but they lack depth at just about every skill position. Rebuilding them in Madden 20 will be about finding complementary players, maybe a true No. 1 receiver, and solidifying the offensive line.

The defense, on the other hand, is a mess. Rated just 72 OVR (a Madden 20-worst), this is where you’ll have your hands full. There is some talent on the defensive side of the ball in SS Jabrill Peppers (84 OVR), CB Janoris Jenkins (80 OVR) and LE Dalvin Tomlinson (80 OVR). But that’s about it.

Hopefully, you believe in Daniel Jones because wasting another draft pick with so many glaring needs on defense would be tough. You’re probably looking at a multi-year rebuild process with the Giants right now.
