10 video games that would make great Netflix animated series
River City
A high school filled with violent thugs who constantly get into fights and even friendly team sports like soccer and dodgeball can be deadly? Already sounds like half a dozen anime series to me honestly, but that is also what makes the setting of River City, which would be based on the Kunio-Kun series of games, such a great fit to make an animated show based off of.
Here in the states, we’ve received a few select entries in the series (most notably River City Ransom) and those alone would be enough to probably base an animated show off of where kids are just trying to survive high school with some exaggerated stakes thrown in that make it a little more on the humorous side.
If you want to get an idea of what an animated series based on River City/Kunio-Kun should look like, the trailer for Wayforward’s upcoming River City Girls should give you a good feeling for it.
While the series could focus on the two main protagonists, I think a great idea would be a large ensemble cast that gets a different focus every few episodes. There’s a deep roster of fascinating characters to explore if you look at the series as a whole. River City could be the next great high school anime if done correctly. Hopefully, we’ll see that happen on Netflix sometime soon.
