You see, for every moment of brilliant comedic execution, there is always the potential for finding something that is the exact opposite. That’s what I initially thought would be the basis for this award, but then I got into a text exchange with my sister about Nicholas Cage who, by my approximation, has some of the most unintentionally hilarious moments as an actor I’ve ever seen. As a result, I decided to shift my focus from failures to accidental masterpieces of hilarity.
Researching — a term I am using very lightly — for this category was more fulfilling than I can convey through words. Some obvious ones like Spidey shooting his webs into the great beyond were all well and good, but I found that the lower-quality Spider-Man titles delivered the golden moments. But as I’ve previously mentioned, Web of Shadows is no ally of my Spidey-loving self, and it is a fountain for unintentional comedy.
The magnum ops for this comedy emporium that stands out the most, however, is when you choose the evil path after defeating a symbiote-infused Wolverine. To free Wolvie from the symbiote, Spidey decides to lift the guy over his head as Bane did against Batman, except instead of breaking his back he quite literally rips the guy in half. No, I’m not making this up.
