#9. Luigi’s Mansion 3

Much like Town, if I were absolutely 100%  certain that Luigi’s Mansion 3 would be out by December 31st, this would be higher on the list, number one in fact as it’s my anticipated Nintendo Switch game coming out in the foreseeable future (the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel is probably still at least two years away).

We will likely see Luigi’s Mansion 3 out this year, but it has a vague release window of 2019, which has been narrowed to “4th Quarter 2019”. That means it could be out anytime between October 31st of 2019 and March 31st of 2020. Again, it’s more likely that it will make it out this year (and in fact, Halloween, October 31st, 2019 is on a Thursday when Nintendo often drops a bunch of games in addition to Tuesday and Friday releases), but there is also the very slight possibility it could slip to early next year.

If you’re not familiar with the series, Luigi’s Mansion pits the famous plumber’s older brother against a whole host of ghosts usually guarding a secret contained in a mansion, a series of mansions or in the case of the third game, a hotel. He’s got his trusty Poltergust to help him suck up the ghosts, find treasure and solve puzzles. It’s a wonderfully charming series filled with humor and creativity and should be a more significant series with more entries, but hey; that just makes each one much more special.

Luigi’s Mansion is a criminally undervalued series (mostly in that we’ve only gotten three entries in 18 years) and deserves a big spotlight since a hopeful eventual fourth entry probably won’t be seen until whatever the successor to the Nintendo Switch ends up being is released.
