What We won’t see: Any update on Elder Scrolls 6 or Starfield

Last year, Bethesda really got people excited by simply confirming two really obvious things. Firstly, there will be another proper Elder Scrolls game. Secondly, that the long-rumored giant space adventure Starfield, which had been expected to be shown at E3 for years, is in development and will come out at some point. And then they showed some logos for those games.

That’s all we got. That’s all we will get for quite a while. It was already stated that both Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield are not just next-generation titles, but also still incredibly early in development. We didn’t actually see any footage of either game last year; it was just a way to placate the crowd and send everyone home thinking about those games and not being negative about Fallout 76 or a mobile Elder Scrolls game.

We will not see any footage of either game during Bethesda’s E3 2019 presentation. They won’t even be mentioned. Last year was just a, “Hey, these things exist and we are working on them” sort of announcement. The earliest I would realistically expect to see any footage might be at next year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, and that still doesn’t seem very likely. Bethesda might have something unexpected to surprise us and close out this year’s show, but it won’t be Starfield or Elder Scrolls VI.

And that’s what we will, we might and we won’t see from Bethesda’s E3 2019 presentation. The expectations should probably be kept low on having a really exciting show for Bethesda but it should still be a solid and most certainly interesting one. And hey, if expectations are low, they may really surprise us.

Bethesda’s E3 2019 presentation will take place on June 9 at 5:30 p.m. PST. What do you hope to see from Bethesda at this year’s E3? Let us know in the comments.
