What we will see: Rage 2 DLC

Rage 2 just recently released and opinions seem pretty wildly divided on it. Depending on who you talk to, it’s either a fairly bland open-world shooter without actually much to do in the open world; or it’s a pretty fun game where you shoot stuff and the guns are cool, even if the open world leaves something to be desired. At least everyone seems agreed that the open world is lacking, though.

Bethesda has some pretty hefty post-launch content plans for Rage 2 that will hopefully make that open world feel less empty and more alive, and they will certainly be discussing them at their E3 2019 presentation. They’ve already laid out a “road map” of content that details the release dates of major updates, skins, weapons, world events and two DLC expansions due out later this year.

No doubt Bethesda will show what a “world event” looks like, and we’ll likely get a look at the first major DLC expansion for Rage 2, the Rise of Ghosts, since that is due out on August 30. We probably won’t see much of anything past that first expansion, however, as Bethesda will likely want to promote stuff coming out for Rage 2 beyond August closer to its actual release date (especially since anything after August just has a vague “Fall” release period rather than an actual month).

We’ve seen a number of games during this generation that had a rather lukewarm reception at launch only to get some significant updates and turn into something people can heartily recommend. Will Rage 2 be one of those games? We’ll likely get a good idea during Bethesda’s E3 2019 presentation.
