What we will see: Elder Scrolls Blades

Elder Scrolls Online is almost certainly not the only Elder Scrolls game Bethesda will be showing off at E3 2019. There will assuredly be a portion of their presentation devoted to promoting their next big mobile title, Elder Scrolls Blades, which is currently available for everyone to play on iOS or Android but still technically in Early Access.

And in its current Early Access state, there has been a lot of criticism about Elder Scrolls Blades, particularly concerning the fact that it seems to very much be a “pay to win” game (i.e. there are parts that are impossible to beat without acquiring better gear that you must pay real money for).

To their credit, Bethesda has taken this feedback and promised to adjust the game. They will likely talk about adjustments being made to better balance out Elder Scrolls Blades as well as show off story content for the game at this year’s E3 2019 presentation.

The real question is what can Bethesda do to get people excited for Elder Scrolls Blades? I actually think a one-time premium purchase would be great, but I’m not sure how feasible that is.

Maybe a surprise announcement of a Nintendo Switch version like they did with Fallout Shelter? Really the most important thing they can do is make it feel like a real Elder Scrolls game that you can play on your phone and doesn’t feel like it’s trying to nickel and dime you. Hopefully, that’s what we’ll see evidence when Bethesda shows off Elder Scrolls Blades at this year’s E3 presentation.
