Season 9 Battle Pass and Fortbytes

With a new season comes a new Battle Pass. And in Season 9, Epic Games is introducing Fortbytes.

Available exclusively to Battle Pass owners, Fortbytes are “a series of 100 collectible computer chips” that are scattered and hidden throughout the battle royale map. As you collect Fortbytes, you’ll “decrypt a mysterious image,” along with unlocking rewards and uncovering “the secrets of Season 9.

There are a total of 100 Fortbytes, but not all of them have been placed in the game just yet; only 18 are available to find right now with at least one new Fortbyte unlocked each day. Fortbytes can only be collected during Season 9.

While Epic has made a clear effort to make challenges more exciting and interesting, Fortbytes add an extra activity to keep players engaged with the game throughout the week.

As for the Battle Pass, not much else has changed. It still costs 950 V-bucks and still offers 100 tiers with over 100 cosmetic rewards.

Purchasing the standard Battle Pass will immediately unlock the Sentinel Outfit and Rox progressive Outfit. Rewards in the Battle Pass are cosmetic only and have no impact on the actual gameplay. Throughout the 100 tiers, you’ll unlock new sci-fi outfits, high-tech wraps for your weapons and vehicles, mechanized pets like the robo-kitty and more.

The rewards available in the Season 9 Battle Pass can only be unlocked during Season 9, and are yours to keep forever. If you reach tier 100, you’ll unlock the Vendetta progressive outfit. Epic estimates this could take anywhere between 75 to 150 hours to unlock.

Tiers are unlocked by completing weekly and daily in-game challenges that reward stars. Each tier requires 10 stars to unlock the associated reward(s).

If you’re a little short on time, you can purchase the Season 9 Battle Bundle for 2,800 V-bucks. This includes the Battle Pass along with unlocking the first 25 tiers at a 40 percent discount. As a result, you’ll have access to a third new outfit.

If you are on the fence or maybe don’t have time to max out your Battle Pass, you can still unlock rewards by playing Fortnite. The Silver Pass comes with its own tiered rewards such as the “Yay!” emote, Cursed wrap, Neo Tubes Contrail, Field FLyer Glider, Afterburner, Bunker Basher Harvesting Tool and more.
