Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire: The 5 coolest Pokemon from gen 3

facebooktwitterreddit

Here is a list of the five coolest Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, and why they are the coolest from generation three.

Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire were some of my favorite games as a kid, and introduced some of my favorite Pokemon in the franchise. This made choosing only five of them a difficult task. This being said, I had a lot of fun looking through these old Pokemon and trying not to be too biased when choosing. Here are the five that I came up with.

5. Gardevoir

This psychic-type Pokemon has been a fan favorite since its release. It is not overly rare or powerful, but it has a very unique design, and looks similar to a human female. Despite its feminine features, it can be male or female. Gardevoir was also Wally’s main Pokemon in the games. It would later get a mega-evolution as well fairy as a second type in generation six.

4. Shedinja

Like Gardevoir, this Pokemon is not the most rare or strong Pokemon, but it has perhaps the most unique ability in the entire franchise. Shedinja is the only Pokemon with access to Wonder Guard, which makes it immune to damage from any moves that are not super effective against it. In addition to having this ability, Shedinja also only has one HP, meaning that if it does take damage it will instantly die. It is bug/ghost type, meaning that it can be damaged by ghost, dark, fire, flying, and rock types, and it can also be damaged by entry hazards, poison, burn, and weather.

3. Milotic

This is one of my personal favorites in the franchise from an appearance standpoint, and makes use of the Pokeblocks from generation three. Milotic was one of the most difficult Pokemon to obtain in the original Ruby and Sapphire games. It must be evolved from Feebas, which can only be found in six separate fishing spots on a specific route which are randomly generated and can also spawn other Pokemon. Once Feebas is acquired, it must be fed Pokeblocks that are made from berries to increase its beauty stat and then leveled up once to evolve into Milotic.

2. Rayquaza

Rayquaza is another legendary that is simply too cool to ignore. This flying/dragon-type Pokemon controls the wind as well as Kyogre and Groudon. Fittingly so, mega-Rayquaza is probably the most powerful Pokemon in the entire game and is banned from all of Smogon’s competitive formats except anything goes, which literally allows for anything. This wind serpent is not messing around.

1. Blaziken

Blaziken is pretty much the strongest non-legendary in the franchise, except maybe Aegislash. It got even stronger with the introduction of the hidden ability Speed Boost, and even stronger than that with a mega-evolution. This fire/fighting-type starter was the first in a line of three fire/fighting-type starters in generations three, four, and five. Aside from being a powerful trend-setter, Blaziken is just a really cool looking fire chicken.
