Things to look forward to on Pokemon Day this year

Pokemon Day is only 10 days away and we are hyped up and speculating on all the new content, games, and merchandise we hope to see in the world of Pokemon.

Pokemon Day is only 10 days away on February 27, and I have begun to think about the things that I want to see. Newsweek did an article on Pokemon Day last year, and we know that new games are not the only thing to be announced on this exciting day. We got Snapchat filters, a new Pokemon movie, Pokemon GO content, and new collectibles and merchandise.

So first we have to ask, what is Pokemon Day and why is it on February 27? According to Pixelkin, February 27 is the date that the original Pokemon games were released in Japan. It has since been dubbed Pokemon Day, and celebrated as a special day for the franchise. Over the past few years, Nintendo and Pokemon have used this day to unveil new content, games, and merchandise.

There is one specific thing that I am hoping to hear about over everything else, that one specific thing of course being the next core series game that has already been scheduled for release later this year. This is the one thing I hope to see personally. While I know that there is a good chance Nintendo won’t make a full reveal like this until E3, I am hopeful that it is further along in development than we are aware and we will hear something about it.

While a potential generation eight reveal would the best thing that could happen, I would also like to hear more about the new mobile game the Pokemon Company was hiring for. There are currently two mobile Pokemon games which are Pokemon GO and Pokemon Quest. I have enjoyed both of these games, and look forward to a new game developed by the Pokemon Company. I am unsure what kind of game this could be, but I look forward to finding out.

There is also the chance that we will see even more content for Pokemon GO. While it recently has had a lot of updates, there are still generation four Pokemon that have not been released. There is also a chance for them to announce new events or updates set for later in the year. Any of this would be a welcome invitation from me.

All games aside, there is bound to be an abundance of new Pokemon merchandise and media out there. I would certainly not mind seeing a new Pokemon movie, or seeing some new merchandise to choose from. This will likely be a good opportunity for a new television or movie reveal, outside of Detective Pikachu, of course.
