Revisiting an earlier game in the series and bringing it more in line with the recent games There’s no better candidate than Assassin’s Creed II. Returning to the urban settings of Florence, Venice and the rest of Renaissance Italy would pose a unique design challenge for a series that has seen very few massive, dense urban settings in the two newest games.
Odyssey’s Athens showed the team at Ubisoft Quebec could do those sorts of massive settings right. Returning to Florence with a fresh, next-gen scale and coat of paint could be a genuinely mesmerizing experience. The cities of Renaissance Italy would seem like living, breathing worlds in ways that few Creed games have matched. Retooling the way Ezio plays for the new combat and leveling systems could also be a fun way to view an old character.
