Nintendo is playing their cards close to their chest when it comes to the new Animal Crossing game. But we do know they plan to bring it to the Nintendo Switch sometime this year. The last full-blown Animal Crossing title was Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the Nintendo 3DS, released back in 2012. So while Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on mobile devices has been a great casual time sink, fans of the series are yearning for another proper entry in the series.
As always, it’s hard to imagine an Animal Crossing game that doesn’t involve farming, fishing, decorating, and collecting with Tom Nook and company. But everything is just conjecture at this point. We expect the game to take advantage of the Switch’s online capabilities, perhaps including an expansive multiplayer hub or ways for players to visit each other’s villages. It would be great to see Animal Crossing take things to the next level with some of its features and make this the most extensive game in the series to date.
Whatever the case, Animal Crossing on the Nintendo Switch is definitely one of the most anticipated titles on the platform in 2019. While we don’t have a firm release date from Nintendo yet, it’s only a matter of time before they give us more info during a Nintendo Direct presentation.
