It goes without saying that you will obtain many stolen goods while playing Red Dead Redemption 2. But where do you atually sell these items?

It should come as no surprise that, as an outlaw in Red Dead Redemption 2, you come into the posession of many stolen items. Whether looting a corpse, robbing a stranger, or stealing from a train, Arthur will find himself in possession of a number of “hot” items, from jewerly to gold bars. Unfortunately, you can’t just pawn these items off to any ol’ store clerk. Your run-of-the-mill general shop won’t buy that gold wedding ring you took off a dead O’Driscoll gangster.

That’s where the Fence comes in. Fences are special vendors in Red Dead Redemption 2 that aren’t afraid to take part in the exchange of illegal and stolen items. They also sell a wide variety of valuable and hard-to-find items, such as the Lock Breaker, special masks, dynamite, and new crafting recipes.

There are four Fences spread out across the map, and you will be introduced to your first one in Emerald Ranch during the second half of Chapter 2 of the game’s story. The other three Fences can be found in Saint Denis, Rhodes, and at the Van Horn Trading Post. You can see all of their locations on the game map (use the index to quickly find them). Each of these special vendors buys any stolen goods, and they all sell similar rare items, no matter where they are located.
