Shadow of the Tomb Raider guide: The best skills and equipment
By Bryson Hile
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is going to take you on a train ride so here are the best skills and equipment to assist.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider has released which means players have access to the triumphant conclusion to Lara Croft’s origin story. With a triumphant conclusion comes one hell of a train ride which will require the best skills and equipment one can hope for. Of course, different skills and equipment provide support in certain areas of gameplay, so it will ultimately be up to the player on what area to focus on.
Seeking 100%
Shadow of the Tomb Raider heavily focuses on exploration rather than combat. So for players trying to 100 percent the game, it is best suited to focus on the Seeker skills tree. This one area out of three contains several skills assisting Lara in collecting resources and seeing the world around her.
Eagle’s Sight is especially useful when players are trying to find artifacts, monoliths, treasure chests and more. These items will light up when players use Lara’s survival instinct in open areas. A great perk to boost this skill is Viper’s Nest which increases the number of man-made resources gathered. Grab this perk early so crates and boxes you loot in areas provide more resources to upgrade weapons.
The Seeker area of the skills tree also provides beneficial boosts in seeing enemies and animals. Eagle’s Grasp will boost your chances of finding rare animals that are needed to craft Vestige outfits. These outfits can be obtained through crypts or merchants and provide abilities in certain areas of gameplay.
For keeping an eye on enemies when in combat or stealth, I recommend the Eye of the Eagle II trait. This allows Lara to see human enemies through walls when taking perception plants. You will need to purchase the first tier to obtain this skill, however.
Finally, if you plan to stealth kill those human enemies then it is best to have Hoatzin’s Step on your side. This will reduce the noise Lara makes when jumping, landing and falling, so it will be best suited for those stealth sequences.
