10 things we’re most excited for in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth
PvWhatever
When I first started playing WoW toward the end of Wrath of the Lich King, I joined a PvP server because, well, that’s where my friends were. And I hated it! I’m not a PvP player, and yet I found it almost impossible to get anything done out in the world while high-level players kept popping in, killing me in one hit, dancing on my corpse, and flying off. I did eventually pay to transfer, but I recognize that my experience isn’t everyone’s. Some people love World PvP, and that’s just fine.
In Battle for Azeroth, PvP and PvE realms will no longer be separated. Instead, you’ll be able to toggle yourself on and off for World PvP at will. But with that will come a limitation: you can only toggle in your faction’s capital city, and you’ll then be placed on the server with others who have also opted in. That means you can’t just swap back and forth whenever you see an easy target or another player approaching.
Will people actually opt in? That’s still an unknown. But as a PvE player, I’m far happier knowing that I can play with friends on any server without dying to players every few minutes.
