Don’t get me started on Lance! Okay, do. At this point, you’ve already met the guy at the Lake of Rage. He and his crazy awesome Dragonite helped you take out Team Rocket. The fourth member of Kanto’s Elite Four making a cameo was enough for me, especially since he had brought such a fabulous cape along with him. But I never expected him to be the literal Champion of the League! That was an honor I assumed would be meant for Silver.

Mind you, we’re meeting Lance after we’ve already passed through the rooms of Koga (a former Gym Leader and a nostalgia trip in his own right), Bruno (from the original group), and two seriously tough newcomers. He greets us with his cape spread out and with a team of the toughest Pokemon we’ve faced yet, packed with Dragonites we don’t have Fairy-types for and pseudo-legendaries like Aerodactyl. It’s a truly incredible battle, especially for those who played RBY.
