10 PlayStation games that deserve a Crash N. Sane Trilogy-style remaster
#5. Spyro PlayStation One Trilogy
Crash Bandicoot was far from the only memorable platformer series on the PlayStation One. The system was pretty lousy with platformers for a time, all trying to be the next Mario or even just the next Crash. The only series I think succeeded and I personally think was better than the Crash games was Spyro The Dragon.
A great 3D series from Insomniac Games who brought you the fantastic Ratchet and Clank games and are working on that amazing, spectacular-looking Spider-Man game for the PlayStation 4. Though it was their first series of games, it featured a lot of the colorful style, pretty solid humor and enjoyable gameplay that has been a trademark of the large majority of games developed by Insomniac. While a Ratchet and Clank collection has been released, we haven’t seen one for the Spyro series. It’s likely that this would at least be in part due to the fact that much like Crash, the Spyro series had a life beyond the PlayStation One, but those later entries were not developed by Insomniac. Spyro, the character, is owned by Activision, which they used to launch the Skylanders Toys-to-Life series, but even that has gotten away from the Spyro name. The property is in sort of a limbo until Activision decides they want to do something with it.
Activision will hopefully take a look at the sales numbers of Crash N. Sane Trilogy and get the idea that maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea to do the same for Spyro.
