#5. Advance Wars

Despite being extremely popular, the Advance Wars series has essentially been dead since 2008. There hasn’t even been an attempt at a 3DS entry. And the closest you ever got on a Nintendo home console was an offshoot titled Battalion Wars, which was on Gamecube and Wii. However, it might as well have been an entirely different series for how much it changed.

In the past decade, you’ve actually seen a lot of games so clearly influenced by Advance Wars. There are even a couple coming to Nintendo Switch this year (Wargroove and Tiny Metal). So why not bring back the original that inspired all these games? The core of Advance Wars tactical turn-based gameplay remains fun and challenging. You wouldn’t even have to do a huge graphical upgrade. I’m pretty sure if you made it a $10 Eshop game, but a really solid one that just harkens back to the series it’d be well-received.

The Nintendo Switch seems like a great home for strategy games, and a new Advance Wars entry would certainly be a welcome addition to the software library.
