You will learn very early on that in order to uncover the world map, you will have to visit tall Sheikah Towers located all across Hyrule. These towers serve not only as a climbing challenge but also afford you a good general look at the surrounding area and its landmarks.

One of the first things you should do any time you enter a new area is to find its tower (it’s never hard) and unveil the map. You’ll be using your map a lot to scout out objectives and plan routes, plus you can use the Tower as a warp point. Many of the NPCs in Breath of the Wild will give you directions in relation to certain landmarks or cities, so it’s in your best interest to be able to find and mark where those locations are when you need them.
