The 15 Best GameCube Games Of All Time
#12 – Luigi’s Mansion
There had not yet been a game like Luigi’s Mansion, and while the handheld sequel is good, it’s a shame we never saw a new console version for the Wii U. For once, Luigi takes the spotlight while his brother Mario requires rescuing, but Luigi’s Mansion is no platformer. Instead, it’s an exploration/action/adventure hybrid where you traverse a spooky mansion to find Mario, armed with a flashlight and your trusty Poltergust 3000 for ghost-busting.
Using your ever-growing arsenal of ghost-vacuuming abilities, you’ll slowly unlock the various rooms in the mansion, each with its own puzzles, traps, and items to poke through. Luigi’s Mansion was a visually attractive, fun game in its own time and remains a blast today in spite of its short length. Though its popularity gleaned it the distinction of Player’s Choice title back on the GameCube, we have yet to see it reemerge on the eShop or otherwise. If you’ve still got a GameCube around, this is a game worth revisiting.
