5 Adventures We Want To See In Hearthstone
By Matt Becker
Ulduar
Ulduar is a raid dungeon from The Wrath of the Lich King expansion. A Titan complex located within The Storm Peaks region of Northrend, Ulduar served as the prison of the Old God Yogg-Saron as well as the residence of the titan watchers that have fallen under his influence. The lore behind Ulduar is not only epic but its relevance to the story of the Old Gods makes it a perfect candidate for the potential next adventure if Blizzard is planning to keep a unified theme for the year.
The raid instance is split into five separate wings: The Siege of Ulduar, The Antechamber of Ulduar, The Keepers of Ulduar, The Descent Into Madness, and The Celestial Planetarium. The first wing involves vehicular warfare, which I really think would make for awesome Hearthstone match encounters. Fighting against the giant and Titan watchers, particularly Kologarn and Thorim would also be interesting to see. This could perhaps give Blizzard an opportunity to expand upon the Giant card type or introduce a new Titan type synergy.
One hurdle that would have to be overcome is the fact that there are several Ulduar cards already in Hearthstone, notably Flame Leviathan, Mimiron’s Head, and, of course, Yogg-Saron. Perhaps the adventure would not be directly related to just Ulduar but instead focus on the general story of the Titans and how they relate to the Old Gods (spoiler alert: they imprison them). That could include the story of the defeat of Y’Shaarj, the imprisonment of C’Thun and N’Zoth in Ahn’Qiraj, as well as the story of Yogg-Saron and Ulduar.

While part of me thinks that this upcoming adventure will be completely standalone and unrelated to the Old Gods expansion, the potential for synergy between the two and the lore behind the Titans and Old Gods is too compelling to ignore. Whatever Blizzard’s next adventure will be, I just hope that it is released sooner rather than later!
