Icecrown Citadel

The Icecrown Citadel is the final raid instance in World of Warcraft‘s Wrath of the Lich King expansion, culminating in the final boss fight against the infamous Lich King. I am a little biased since this is my all-time favorite WoW expansion as well as my favorite raid, but I think it would be an ideal fit as a Hearthstone adventure. This is perhaps one of the most asked for adventure locations, and Blizzard seems to recognize that having teased the Icecrown Citadel in some Old Gods promotional material.

The raid is already split into five separate wings: The Lower Spire, The Plagueworks, The Crimson Hall, The Frostwing Halls, and The Frozen Throne. This draws parallels to how the Curse of Naxxramas Adventure was split similar to the Naxxramas raid instance. Each wing has a number of unique boss fights that could make for some compelling and interesting Hearthstone matches. The dev team could get really creative when designing encounters like the Gunship Battle and Valithria Dreamwalker that get me excited just thinking about them.

Unlike many other notable Warcraft characters, the Lich King is one of the few that have yet to have a Hearthstone card. In fact, none of the bosses from Icecrown Citadel have cards, which gives me hope that this adventure could become a reality at some point. Most of the cards from this adventure would probably be undead-themed minions, which could take the place of the now retired undead cards from Naxxramas.

I know a lot of people (including myself) were hoping it would coincide with a new Death Knight class, but the development team has confirmed they don’t currently plan to introduce any more classes. Regardless, playing through one of Warcraft‘s most notable raids and finally getting our hands on a Lich King legendary card would be nothing short of epic.
