Greatest Video Game Villains – #12 Albert Wesker

Game(s): Resident Evil series

Background: Wesker was the leader of the elite police S.T.A.R.S unit in the original Resident Evil game, but was revealed to be a double agent for the Umbrella Corporation. Throughout the Resident Evil franchise, Wesker was a man who had no problem betraying friends in his own personal quest for domination over the human race. He faked his own death, gained super powers from a prototype virus, and led the secretive “Organization.” His end goal was to start a new age of the human race, transforming everyone into super humans via a global viral infection and to rule over them as a god. It took forcing him into a volcano’s lava and two RPG-7 rockets to finally take down the power-hungry Wesker in Resident Evil 5.

Why He’s One Of The Greatest Video Game Villains: Wesker, frequently sporting a pair of black sunglasses, is best known for his superhuman speed and strength. But what really defines him as a villain is that he is a backstabber to the worst degree. At one point in the first Resident Evil, he leads his S.T.A.R. team into a trap in the infested Spencer Mansion just to prove how effective against the virus he is. Wesker is also another villain that just refuses to die. Throughout the series he constantly reappears, stronger and faster each time as he continues to inject himself with the virus to increase his powers. He shows zero remorse for anything that he does, and is arguably one of the most resilient villains there is. And all while wearing his slick black sunglasses.
