7 Craziest Cards In Hearthstone Whispers Of The Old Gods
Whispers of the Old Gods, Hearthstone’s newest expansion, adds over one hundred new cards to both of its newly-divided formats. Some are good; others are weak. Some are, apropos to Old Gods, totally insane.
Hearthstone’s currently undergoing a tentacled hostile takeover, courtesy of the Old Gods. The newest expansion, Whispers of the Old Gods, brings 134 new cards to two new game formats: Wild, which includes all the cards ever released, and Standard, which only uses cards from the past two years. Whether you’re playing Wild or Standard, there’s no denying that the new Whispers cards have some pretty insane effects, both thematically and functionally. It’s early in the expansion, so the details of the meta-game are still being ironed out. That means it’s a great time to log in, experiment with new decks, and wreak havoc with weird combinations that would never otherwise see play.
Though it’s still too soon to determine which cards will dominate the meta, there are a handful of cards that are obviously flat-out crazy. Either they’re insanely powerful, or their effects are bizarre, or they are so heavily RNG-based that you are just as likely to end up crippling or killing yourself as you are to defeat your opponent. I’ve only been playing Whispers of the Old Gods for a few days, but I’ve already had some combinations played against me that left me scratching my head, wondering what had just transpired.
Here are seven cards in Whispers of the Old Gods that may not be the best cards in the expansion, but they’re definitely crazy. Kudos and credit to @hulkcrouton for his invaluable assistance in determining what should go on this list and why. Thanks also to @acpracht for corrections to two card functions.
