4 – Cyrano

Why he’s great: Aside from the fact that this poor guy was named after a famous French playwright with a notoriously huge nose, poor Cyrano always seems to have a cold, and there’s nothing I can do about it. Even in the winter, when the grass is dead and the pollen count is down, this anteater does nothing but sneeze, sneeze, sneeze. Maybe it’s all the sniffling, or maybe it’s something else, but Cyrano is a giant grouch when he’s not forcibly exhaling all over those nearby. And yet I love him.

When you meet him outdoors, Cyrano does all the yelling and complaining that one would expect of a cranky villager. But have you ever dropped by his house? His living space is a haven of peace and quiet, with lovely bamboo flooring, antique swords, and hearth, and the quirky “K.K. Faire” whistling on in the background. See, Cyrano is actually a writer, with a deep and peaceful mindset. But since even one step outside sends him into a frenzy of sneezes, he struggles to express himself through speech. I wonder if he’s a playwright, too? Perhaps he’s secretly the reincarnation of his namesake! Maybe there’s a famous person living in my town! I should visit Cyrano and find out.
