If you read App Trigger regularly, you’ll notice that when it comes to mobile games, we often preach that bigger isn’t always better, sequels shouldn’t always try to outdo everything their predecessors do, etc. Infinity Blade II said that we can stuff all that.
Not directly, mind you, but by succeeding mostly by just kicking everything up a few notches across the board. While Infinity Blade was the game that set the bar by showing what was possible for a mobile action game, its follow-up took the ball and ran with it to the delight of people everywhere. More weapons, deeper customization, even larger and more impressive enemies, this game had it all.
As a result, critics loved it even more than the original, though the general public seemed to prefer No. 1 just a tad more despite all the new goodies Infinity Blade II packed in. Regardless of which game you prefer, it’s hard to argue that both of them deserve to be ranked among the best iOS games of all time, and not many series can legitimately make a case to have more than one entry on this list.
