Pokemon Sun And Moon Pokemon, Ranked
2 – Tapu Koko/Tapu Lele/Tapu Bulu/Tapu Fini
Classification: Land Spirit Pokemon
Tapu Koko Type: Electric/Fairy
Tapu Koko Pokedex: This guardian deity of Melemele is brimming with curiosity. It summons thunderclouds and stores their lightning inside its body. It confuses its enemies by flying too quickly for the eye to follow. It has a hair-trigger temper but forgets what made it angry an instant later.
Tapu Lele Type: Psychic/Fairy
Tapu Lele Pokedex: This guardian deity of Akala is guilelessly cruel. The fragrant aroma of flowers is the source of its energy. As it flutters about, it scatters its strangely glowing scales. Touching them is said to restore good health on the spot.
Tapu Bulu Type: Grass/Fairy
Tapu Bulu Pokedex: It pulls large trees up by the roots and swings them around. It causes vegetation to grow, and then it absorbs energy from the growth. The guardian deity of Ula’ula is a lazy Pokémon. It commands plants to immobilize its foes and then deals them a savage blow with its horns.
Tapu Fini Type: Water/Fairy
Tapu Fini Pokedex: The dense fog it creates brings the downfall and destruction of its confused enemies. Ocean currents are the source of its energy. The guardian deity of Poni, it can control water. People say it can create pure water that will wash away any uncleanness.
Explanation: I grouped the four Tapus under one umbrella even though they don’t evolve from one another because I found it impossible to rank one without discussing the others. The four work as a unit of island protectors, each with a different personality of beneficence or malice, but all with incredible power and a responsibility to their inhabitants. You can even see the similarities between each Guardian and their island, such as Tapu Bulu’s laziness (resulting in all the dilapidated places on his island) and Fini’s purity (Poni Island is mostly nature).
The Tapus each sport beautifully designed shields or guards on the majority of their body, and each has a special meaning to its name. Tapu means “holy,” and in order, the second halves of their names are: Chicken, Butterfly, Bull, and Fin. You got it–Tapu Koko is a Holy Chicken. The coolest Holy Chicken around.
