Best Nintendo Switch Games #25 – Oxenfree

Developer: Night School Studio

Synopsis: Alex and her friends Ren and Jonas head out to Edwards Island one weekend, and meet up with some other friends when they arrive. They know that the island is shrouded in mystery and rumors, but don’t realize they’re about to be caught up in it all until it’s too late. By tuning her radio, Alex begins to create strange rifts in time and space, scattering her friends across the islands, creating alternate timelines, and delving into a ghostly world where her choices have drastic consequences on the lives of those around her.

Why it’s one of the best Nintendo Switch games: Do you love stories with bizarre twists and turns? Do you love mysteries, explorations, and laidback gameplay that nonetheless makes you ask and try to answer tough philosophical questions? Oxenfree is the game for you. It’s a talking and exploring game, but Alex is able to make dialogue choices that impact her relationships with the characters and determine their eventual fate in the mystery of Edwards Island. Story is everything, and Oxenfree delivers if that’s what you’re after.
