Mortal Kombat 1 Van-Damme skin revealed with Fatality
Warner Bros and NetherRealm Studios today revealed the Jean Claude Van-Damme skin that has been literally over 30 years in the making. A new trailer released today shows off exactly what Johnny Cage will look like and, of course, his fatality.
In case you weren’t aware, Jean Claude Van-Damme was originally chosen to portray Johnny Cage in the 1992 version of the game. That never happened as things fell through the cracks. NetherRealm head honcho Ed Boon has indicated that there have been multiple attempts over the years to bring him into the game, and it has finally happened with Mortal Kombat 1. Check out the trailer here:
As you can tell, Cage is even voiced by Van Damme as well. The fatality is insane, as you can see he goes classic Johnny Cage by appealing to the camera. It goes by quick, but there is also an Easter Egg reference to his other roles with Van Damme saying “It will be good, I’ll be a Kickboxer, and you be a Street Fighter”.
Remember, the only way you can get the skin is to pick up the Premium Edition of the game as it does not look to be available with a standalone purchase as of now. This edition will cost you $109.99 but get you the Van-Damme skin on top of 1,250 Kredits, one week early access to DLC characters, 6 playable characters, 5 Kameo characters. You’ll also get a Shang-Tsung skin but only if you pre-order it. If you pick this up AFTER release, you’ll get everything except Shang Tsung.
Mortal Kombat 1 has reinvigorated the fan base (especially me) and the entire franchise with this reboot and story lines making things like Sub-Zero and Scorpion brothers. MK1 will release on September 19, but you can get a few days early access by pre-ordering as well. What is your favorite character? Let us know
