Hi-Fi RUSH on Xbox and PC: Standard or Deluxe Edition?

Xbox held its Developer Direct today and one of the surprises to come out of it was Hi-Fi Rush. Developed by Bethesda’s Tango Gameworks (The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo), Hi-Fi Rush is “unique rhythm-action game where the world moves to the best.”

"As wannabe rockstar Chai, you’ll fight back against a sinister robotics enhancement conglomerate using rhythm-amplified combat where everything – from the motion in the environment to the blows of combat – is synced to the music."

Yes, it’s quite unlike anything we’ve seen from Tango Gameworks. And it’s pretty darn awesome, too (we’ll have a review up later this week).

Not only was the game announced today, but it was also released as well. Hi-Fi RUSH is available to play for free on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. If you’re not a Game Pass subscriber, it costs $29.99.

There’s also the Deluxe Edition as well available for $39.99, or $10 extra if you already own the standard base game. So what’s in this Deluxe Edition?

What’s included in the Hi-Fi RUSH Deluxe Edition?

Most of what you’re getting for the extra $10 is cosmetic. Of course, you’ll get the base game, but you’ll also receive two Chai outfits. Each of these includes a hairstyle, scarf, jacket, trousers and shoes that can be mixed and matched with other cosmetics in the game. It also includes seven bonus Chai t-shirts, an 808-themed guitar skin, and an 808 alternate skin.

But perhaps the best part of the Deluxe Edition is the 20,000 Gears you’ll receive. Gears are a type of in-game currency used to unlock combat skills and other upgrades. While you can obtain them through combat and exploration, getting 20,000 through the Deluxe Edition should give you a boost to your character’s strength.

As you can see in the video above, Hi-Fi RUSH adopts an anime-inspired cel-shaded look that is both gorgeous and a perfect fit for the type of rhythm action combat. Hi-Fi RUSH is actually a very approachable rhythm action game as all of your attacks are automatically synced to land with the beat. Your skill comes in at the end of a combo when you’re rewarded for pulling off heavy Beat Hits.

Regardless of which edition of the game you purchase, Hi-Fi RUSH is a ton of fun.
