Indianapolis Colts

6-11, 4th place in the AFC South

The Indianapolis Colts are my dark horse this season, so I’m a bit shocked to see Madden predict a fourth-place finish in the AFC South. Between Jonathan Taylor, Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines, Zach Pascal, and Michael Pittman Jr., there’s a ton of talent on this team. The uncertainly resides with quarterback Carson Wentz.

Wentz has talent, I think, but his career has kind of been derailed with lingering injuries. There’s also all the drama surrounding his refusal to get vaccinated which could ultimately impact his availability to play this season.

Which Wentz will the Colts get this season? Madden predicts 3,873 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. That’s not bad, actually.

The problem s the Colts defense ranked dead last in total yards allowed (6,727) in the simulation. They also allowed the fifth-most points (461). It seems the offense just couldn’t keep up with what the defense was allowing to the opposing team.

Here are some of the noteworthy player stats, according to the Madden 22 sim:

  • Jonathan Taylor: 1,012 rushing yards, 13 rushing TDs, 317 receiving yards, 3 receiving TDs
  • Marlon Mack: 466 rushing yards, 6 rushing TDs
  • Nyheim Hines: 272 rushing yards, 398 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD
  • Zach Pascal: 973 receiving yards, 5 receiving TDs
  • Michael Pittman Jr.: 265 receiving yards, 4 receiving TDs
