Make the most of the Legendary Raids this weekend with our Pokémon GO Mewtwo Raid Guide.

Pokémon GO Tour Kanto is just around the corner, and while it’s a great ticketed event, there are still lots to do if you don’t want to spend any money. One of the highlights of the free-to-play friendly events is the return of the original Legendary Pokémon: Mewtwo.

Pokémon GO Mewtwo Raid Guide: GO Tour Kanto

Pokémon GO Tour Kanto will run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on February 20. During this time, you’ll be able to battle the Mewtwo in Legendary Raids.

The best part? The Mewtwo caught during the event will know their Legacy Moves. These powerful moves became available after Niantic’s numerous balance updates. Often, a Legacy Move will make a good Pokémon great or amazing. Mewtwo’s Legacy Move makes it the best Psychic type attacker in the game, so you won’t want to miss it.

Pokémon GO Mewtwo Counters

Mewtwo is a pure Psychic type Pokémon. It’s weak to Dark, Bug and Ghost attacks. Mewtwo hits incredibly hard, so you’ll want a tanky Pokémon that can resist the strong Psychic type moves Mewtwo will throw at you.

Mewtwo also has a variety of type covering moves. In addition to Psychic, it can learn Ice Beam, Thunderbolt and Flamethrower. A tanky Ghost type like Gengar will be ideal to avoid Mewtwo’s off-type attacks.

Pokémon GO Psystrike

Mewtwo’s Legacy Move is Psystrike, and it’s easily Mewtwo’s best. It’s stronger than its normal premier Psychic attack, and combined with Confusion makes Mewtwo into the game’s best Psychic Attacker.

To push Mewtwo over the top, you can pair Psystrike with Shadow Ball by using an Elite TM. Shadowball was originally part of Mewtwo’s moveset before Niantic rebalanced the entire game in 2019 and Psystrike is an event move. Having both of them on Mewtwo makes it almost unstoppable.
