Atlanta Reign

Seed: 5th (4-3 record)

Quarterfinal Opponent: Philadelphia Fusion (4th seed)

Match Time: Friday, March 22, 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET

The Atlanta Reign are probably one of the Overwatch League’s most fun teams. It’s a team with a lot of vibrant personalities such as DPS Daniel “Dafran” Francesca and support Steven “Kodak” Rosenberger, and they seem like they’re having a lot of fun playing the game. To an outside observer, it can seem like the Reign are memeing on a professional level, but the Reign are playing with a certain panache that makes them fun to watch.

The fun doesn’t diminish their skill. Dafran has become one of the best DPSes in the league and Kodak is a top-15 healer. Tanks Donghyung “Daco” Seo and Blake “Gator” Scott are a formidable tank line and combine with Dafran’s Zarya to form a line that can, on its best days, compete with the best.

However, one has to wonder if this team has already hit its statistical ceiling. The Reign already lost to the Fusion in Week 1 and have yet to play any other top-tier teams such as the Titans or Excelsior. The Fusion have also won their last three matches and are on a bit of a hot streak. It’s a little too easy to see the Reign becoming the next team the Fusion knock over.

The Atlanta Reign are 1-1 against stage playoff teams. The lost to the Fusion 3-2 in Week 1 and beat the Defiant 3-1 in Week 2.
