LEGO 2K Drive: 2K’s open-world racing game gets official trailer

After a few leaks in the last couple of days, LEGO and 2K have revealed the official trailer for their open-world racing game, LEGO 2K Drive.

The game is going to be packed full of things to do throughout Bricklandia with races, challenges, and open-world activities. Of course, the classic LEGO customization will be at your disposal as well. At one point in the trailer, you see a cheeseburger mobile that immediately morphs into a speed boat once it hits the water.

The official web site for the game promises all kinds of activities as well. The site teases:

“Get behind the wheel and gear up for tons of open-world exploration and thrilling races! Take on the exciting Story mode, jump into a single race or Cup Series tournaments, and let loose in off-the-wall minigames. Master the arts of drifting, boosting, and using power-ups to claim victory!”

Remi Mercelli, head of LEGO commented on the game’s announcement:

“Video games have long been an important way our fans experience the magic of the LEGO System-in-Play, and 2K’s strong track record of delivering quality, innovative titles for a broad range of audiences makes them the perfect partner to create the next iconic AAA LEGO games. Beginning with LEGO 2K Drive, we’re excited for fans to experience a fresh new take that builds on the LEGO humor and fun fans have come to expect.”

There is going to be a story mode for those who want a little something extra out of their single player component. To be honest, this is to be expected from a LEGO game. There is also local split-screen co-op and online multi-player as well.

LEGO 2K Drive will release on May 19 on last and current generation consoles as well as PC. Pre-orders for all of the editions are available now. How will you customize your brick mobile? Let us know.
