Steel Seed: NERO dev Storm in a Teacup announces stealth action game

Developer Storm in a Teacup today announced their newest project, Steel Seed. After Close to the Sun and their amazing hit N.E.R.O., Storm in a Teacup has entered the action combat genre.

Steel Seed picks up thousands of years after the human race took the planet to the brink of destruction, causing the AI machines to take all means necessary to save a number of them. Hidden deep below earth’s surface, the last survivors are kept safe, but a new threat has presented itself.

Carlo Ivo Alimo Bianchi, Storm in a Teacup CEO & Creative Director said, “Steel Seed represents the most challenging project till now for Storm in a Teacup, featuring both a varied combat/stealth system and incredibly deep and emotional storytelling. Steel Seed is an epic journey that will test your humanity.”

Those who haven’t played their previous titles, you most definitely should. N.E.R.O. was one of the most incredibly emotional games I’ve ever played. Their followup Close to the Sun also was very emotional yet took a more user driven approach opposed to narrative. Now, it appears Steel Seed is maintaining that story base while expanding on the action.

The teaser trailer announcement below gives a glimpse of the beautiful graphics and environmental design. It ends with the protagonist calling her AI companion “Coby, let’s go” and brandishing her sword. It appears as if the robots go a little too overboard on their quest to save humanity Ala Terminator. Not much else is known, and hopefully we’ll get some gameplay soon. Steel Seed releases in 2024 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S|X.

Take a look at the trailer above and let us know what you think. In the meantime, be sure to check out games NERO and Close to the Sun if you haven’t yet done so already.
