MultiVersus Season 1 was supposed to kick off this week, but an unfortunate delay has left fans waiting. In anticipation of the impending season, Warner Bros. Games has provided an overview of what will be coming when Season 1 does arrive.
The snapshot, teased on Twitter during this weekend’s EVO 2022, confirmed the arrival of new characters Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith, from the hit animated show Rick & Morty. Morty was supposed to release alongside the start of Season 1 on August 9. It’s likely he’ll still be added with the new season, although the date is unclear. His partner, Morty, will still be coming at some point during the season.
The image also teases a Classic Arcade mode. While no further details were released, it’s believed this mode could be a gauntlet of bot battles of increasing difficulty.
Then, of course, there’s the self-explanatory Ranked Mode which fans have been clamoring for. Similarly, we don’t know the specific rules for Ranked but we probably won’t have to wait much longer. In the meantime, you might want to continue playing MultiVersus as you’ll have to be level 20 to participate in Ranked play.
The snapshot also gives us a look at new cosmetics, including icons, banners and variants. Most notable is the LeBron James costumed based on Robin (from Batman). This variant is clearly inspired by LeBron’s role in the recent movie Space Jam: A New Legacy in which he and Bugs Bunny briefly become dressed as the iconic DC superhero duo Batman and Robin.
These cosmetics are likely a sneak peek at what we can expect from the Season 1 Battle Pass, which will feature 50 tiers and cost around $10. It was also confirmed that there will be a free Battle Pass track as an alternative with fewer rewards.
We will don’t know when Season 1 of MultiVersus will kick off, but Warner Bros. Games says the announcement date is “coming very soon.”
