When does TFT Set 6.5: Neon Nights release?

Riot Games gave us a glimpse into the future of Teamfight Tactics this week, revealing some details of the highly anticipated mid-set update. TFT Set 6.5 is officially titled “Neon Nights” and will introduce some new champions and traits along with a few new augments. So when can we look forward to the mid-set update?

When does TFT Set 6.5: Neon Nights go live?

Riot hasn’t officially announced a release date for the mid-set update, but these types of things aren’t typically hard to figure out. The road map says “Spring 2022,” and in the dev drop Executive Producer Jeff “Craftbrew” specifically says “mid-February.”

Looking at the Teamfight Tactics patch schedule, the 12.4 patch is scheduled for February 16, which is about as “mid-February” as you can get. This means TFT Set 6.5 will likely arrive on the PBE with patch 12.3 on February 2 before going to the live servers on February 16.

For further evidence, we can look at the Gizmos & Gadgets Pass+, which ends in three weeks and five days as of this writing. This, again, puts the date at February 16.

And if you need more proof, Riot likes to stick to a three month cycle for introducing new sets or mid-sets. Set 6 actually went live on November 3, so February fits the timeline.

What to look forward to with Neon Nights

I’m absolutely loving the Gizmos & Gadgets theme (and mechanics) for this set, so I’m excited to see how Riot will build upon it with Neon Nights. But we still have a bit of time until the new set arrives.

Set 6.5 is one of the largest mid-sets to date with over 20 champions being swapped out. The Imperial and Academy traits are leaving while we welcome in the Debonair and Hextech. Along with these new traits come some new champions, including Alistar and Corki, who are making their TFT debuts. Silco, from the League of Legends animated series Arcane, is also coming as the first TFT-exclusive unit.
