When will Fortnite Chapter 3 begin following that explosive Chapter 2 finale event?

Today marked The End of Fortnite Chapter 2. And if you caught the Finale event today, you probably “flipped” out.

Get it? Flipped out? Because the island literally flipped upside down.

That wasn’t the only shocker in today’s event as it was also revealed that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is The Foundation. If you missed the explosive Chapter 2 Finale event, you can get all caught up below.

And now we’re left wading in the waters, waiting for the start of Chapter 3. As of this writing, Fortnite is currently unplayable. Logging into the game simply shows our character floating in the middle of the ocean.

Fortnite is currently transitioning from Chapter 2 Season 8 to Chapter 3 of the battle royale game. And the last time we saw this type of extended maintenance mode was the end of Chapter 1 when the map got sucked into a black hole after The End event. If you recall, the Black Hole stayed around for around nearly two days, rendering Fortnite unplayable the entire time.

When will Fortnite Chapter 3 begin?

It’s unclear how long the transition from Chapter 2 to Chapter 3 will take but if it’s at all similar to the Chapter 1 to Chapter 2 transition, then the popular battle royale game could remain unplayable throughout the weekend.

The current speculation is that Fortnite won’t be back on until December 7. However, that’s based only on the fact that Tuesday is typically the day of the week in which Epic updates the game. An update of this magnitude could buck the Tuesday trend, meaning Fortnite could return on Sunday or even on Monday. Any longer than Tuesday and I think Epic runs the risk of driving away millions of players.

That’s always the risk Epic takes when taking the game offline for an extended period of time. But I’m sure they will keep fans hooked in other ways. For the black hole event, numbers would randomly appear that referenced The Scientist’s recordings from the Season 10 Out of Time Challenges. Additionally, there was a hidden mini game players could access by entering the KONAMI code.

No easter eggs have been discovered in this event so far, but that could change at any time. Because of that, I’m sure eyes will be glued to the current livestream.
