Sony showed off Horizon: The Frozen Wilds at its E3 2017 presentation.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is already an early contender for game of the year. It’s an incredible game that people will remember for a long time. But Aloy’s story is far from over. At this year’s E3 2017 PlayStation showcase, the next chapter in Horizon was shown off with the DLC expansion The Frozen Wilds.
In Horizon: The Frozen Wilds, Aloy goes to some very snow-covered terrain to meet new friends, fight new robot dinosaurs, and uncover more of the mystery about the world.

It wasn’t made clear if Horizon: The Frozen Wilds is standalone DLC that won’t actually require you to own Horizon: Zero Dawn in order to play it. But Sony has had a track record of making their DLC standalone, so that will probably be the case here.
Horizon: Zero Dawn was easily one of the best games I’ve played in years, and it had an absolutely amazing story and a world that I truly enjoyed spending time in. It would take very little to make me want to dive back into that world, so a standalone expansion such as The Frozen Wilds, which opens up new story content and new parts of that world would certainly be a good excuse to get back into it. I look forward to trying it out when it comes to PlayStation 4 later this year.
