Oh, that sneaky Scott Cawthon. First he made it seem like Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 was coming this fall. Then he apparently confirmed an August 8 release date for the PC version. But lo and behold, it’s actually live on Steam (via IGN) now. Yes, like right now.
While it’s incredibly appropriate for the final (maybe) installment of a horror series that relies on jump scares to pop up out of nowhere, it does leave us at App Trigger with the same question we always have: when will we be able to play it on mobile?
I can confirm that Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 hasn’t hit Google Play yet, because I visited the store as I was typing this. Historically, FNAF games tend to make their way to Android only a few days after they release on PC, with the last two games making their Android debuts less than a week after their PC counterparts. I wouldn’t at all be surprised if the game is live on Google Play this weekend.
Whatever the reason, 10 seems to be the magic number for the iOS editions, so maybe early August is when we’ll see it there. However, since iOS games tend to drop mostly on Thursdays, I’m guessing there’s at least a chance it’s in the App Store next week, on July 30. It didn’t seem likely that we’d be playing Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 on mobile before the end of July, but I’d say now it’ll be an upset if we aren’t. And if you dig the series, that’s pretty cool.
